CLINICAL TEACHER POSITION

Position Profile: The Department of Medicine, Division of Clinical Immunology & Allergy, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, at Western University, London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care is seeking a physician for a full-time clinical academic appointment to Western University. Applicants should be certified, or eligible for certification, in Clinical Immunology & Allergy by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent. Candidates must have an MD, or equivalent, and must be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. Rank and term of appointment, either as a Limited Term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, or a Continuing Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, will depend upon qualifications and experience at the time of appointment.

Qualifications:

• The expected role includes education of Clinical Immunology and Allergy fellows, residents, and medical students.

• The successful candidate will have significant experience providing excellent clinical care and will be expected to participate in the academic commitment of the Division and Department.

• The successful candidate must have substantial interest in medical education. The candidate must have a Master’s in Education or attain a Masters of Education within 3 years of starting the position. The clinical responsibilities involve outpatient care in the areas of asthma, food allergy, insect venom allergy, drug allergy, allergic rhinitis, allergic skin conditions. The candidate will also cover inpatient consultations for the Clinical Immunology and Allergy service for London Health Sciences Centre.

• There will be ample opportunity for research within the Division and collaboration with other members of the Department of Medicine including basic science researchers. Consideration of applicants will include an assessment of previous performance in research and teaching, qualifications and experience.

• The successful candidate for this position will have a record of proven ability for teaching and will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels and to supervise graduate trainees.

Academic and Clinical Environment: The Division of Clinical Immunology and Allergy is well-recognized and respected nationally.

• The Division’s physicians provide secondary and tertiary general clinical immunology and allergy care for the City of London, Southwestern Ontario and beyond.

Compensation Details: Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will primarily include fee-for-service (OHIP billings), Alternative Funding Plan, and academic salary.
