Palliative Medicine

The Division of Palliative Care at William Osler Health System is seeking two full-time Palliative Care physicians to join their team. Currently there are 13 Palliative Care physicians at Osler.

The physicians will provide consultation for patients in multiple settings including the outpatient Supportive & Palliative Care Clinic, the inpatient medical oncology/palliative unit, Long Term Care, Hospice, Survivorship, Virtual Palliative Care and in the community. The physician will work with an experienced multidisciplinary team. The physicians will share in the provision of on call coverage for both the inpatients and community patients under the team’s care. General remuneration is fee-for-service based. The physicians will collaborate with regional partners and participate in a regional network of palliative care providers for education and collective growth.\

The organization is an affiliated academic teaching centre with the University of Toronto and McMaster University. It is also an officially designated site for the training of the Royal College sub-speciality in Palliative Medicine and ESMO designated site of Integrated Oncology/Palliative Care.

The preferred candidate would have a fellowship in Palliative Care, and can be expected to participate in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical learners, as well as participate in quality improvement and program development activities. Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to an inter-professional care model are also essential.

The successful applicants must be licensed to practice in Ontario and hold a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or a Certification in Family Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada.  A certificate of added competency training and experience in Palliative Medicine is a requirement.
