CLINICAL ACADEMIC– ADOLESCENT MEDICINE SPECIALIST

The Department of Paediatrics of the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario in London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University is seeking a fully certified Specialist in Adolescent Medicine.

Adolescent medicine is a strategic goal for our department and care in the region we serve for health providers, patients and families. This position will provide patient care in collaboration with hospital, community and regional partners in London/Middlesex and collaborate with affiliated care sites in Southwestern Ontario – a population of about 2 million. Our new Adolescent Medicine Specialist will work closely with LHSC and regional healthcare partners in patient care, all divisions in the Department of Paediatrics, the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of the Department of Psychiatry, and the Department of Family Medicine in the Schulich Medicine of Medicine & Dentistry.

Candidates for this position must have an MD or equivalent degree and be eligible for licensing in the Province of Ontario. They must, at appointment, demonstrate success with a completed certification of a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in Paediatrics (or equivalent).  Subspecialty certification in Adolescent Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent is required. The successful candidate will be a full time academic clinician who is a Clinician Teacher, with a Limited Term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, or a Continuing Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, depending upon qualifications and experience at the time of appointment.  The successful candidate will provide clinical service and collaborative care with contributions to the medical education of medical students and residents in addition to faculty development through the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry Programs. Participation and leadership in research, scholarship, health promotion, innovations in care delivery and quality improvement is an additional essential role.

The successful candidate in Adolescent Medicine will have demonstrated success in the ability to collaborate effectively with all members of the health care team, faculty educators, research supports and department staff. The candidate will participate in team-based health care and teaching, both at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels as well as in Continuing Professional Development. 

Compensation for this position will be primarily composed of an alternative funding plan and academic salary.  The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2021, although an alternate start date may be negotiated.
