Applications are invited for the position of Staff Rheumatologist in the Department of Medicine, at Unity Health Toronto, St. Joseph’s Health Centre (SJHC). St. Joseph’s is a fully accredited community teaching hospital within the Unity Health Toronto network. Unity Health Toronto is Canada’s largest Catholic Academic Health Sciences System and is affiliated with the University of Toronto.

Employing approximately 2500 staff, along with 400 Credentialed Staff physicians serving approximately 400 beds, St. Joseph’s provides primary, secondary and selected tertiary services to the West Toronto region. The Staff Rheumatologist, if successful, will be joining 2 other Rheumatologists in the Department of Medicine. Strong links to the Emergency Department, Surgical Department (especially Orthopaedic Surgery Division) and all subspecialties of the Department of Medicine (especially Dermatology) create opportunities to grow the breadth and scope of this clinical service at St. Joseph’s.

The Department seeks an outstanding clinical individual with an interest in education, research and high quality medical care. The role would include:

  • Participation in rheumatology on call doing in-patient consults
  • Participation in a once a week out-patient Rheumatology hospital clinic
  • iii)Participation in internal medicine call schedule (minimum 2 calls every 6 months)

    iv)Participation in teaching family medicine/internal medicine residents

    v)Participation in general medicine and hospital rounds, committees and quality improvement projects

    The successful candidate must hold an MD degree and must possess FRCPC certification in Rheumatology, eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario, and eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2021, or as mutually agreed upon.

    This is a fee-for-service 0.5 FTE clinical role.
