CLINICAL ACADEMIC POSITION – PAEDIATRIC RESPIROLOGIST

The Department of Paediatrics, Children's Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre and Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, is seeking a Paediatric Respirologist to join our established Division of Paediatric Respirology. The Division of Paediatric Respirology provides a comprehensive ambulatory and in-patient service to a population of about 1.5 million in southwestern Ontario.  Children with the full spectrum of airway and lung disorders, including cystic fibrosis, asthma, sleep-disordered breathing, chronic lung disease, congenital abnormalities and complex care needs including ventilation are cared for in a range of specialty clinics.  The Division of Paediatric Respirology works closely with our paediatric ENT colleagues in a collaborative Paediatric Airway Centre and in an active paediatric flexible bronchoscopy program.  The Division is also very active in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education.

Candidates for this position must have an MD or equivalent degree and must be eligible for licensing in the Province of Ontario.  Subspecialty certification in Paediatric Respirology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent is required.  The successful candidate will be a clinical academic paediatrician, and hold a full-time Limited Term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, or a Continuing Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, depending upon qualifications and experience at the time of appointment.  The successful candidate should also have experience in sleep medicine with responsibilities that will include the supervising and reading of paediatric sleep studies, and an interest in leading an academic asthma program would be an asset.  Successful candidates will have a keen interest in academic medicine, the ability to collaborate effectively with all other members of the health care team and office staff, and will be expected to participate in team-based health care and teaching, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise graduate trainees. 

 

Compensation for this position will be primarily composed of an alternative funding plan and academic salary. The anticipated start date for this position is January 1, 2021, although an alternate start date may be negotiated.
