Right now we are looking for one:

Full-time Orthopaedic Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Surgeon

Humber River Hospital is currently seeking a Full-time Orthopaedic Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Surgeon to join a large volume practice. The hospital was the first full Digital Hospital in North America, opening the Wilson Campus in 2015, and has over 650 beds and 22 operating rooms.  The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery currently has a team of 13 dynamic Orthopaedic surgeons with a wide breadth of practice. Our hospital runs four elective rooms and a dedicated Trauma Room during day-time hours, Monday through Friday. Our in-hospital fracture clinic has the capacity to run multiple simultaneous clinics, with dedicated x-ray facilities.

Clinical Expectations:  The successful candidate must have a strong arthroplasty and trauma background, and will be expected to deal with complex cases, revisions and peri-prosthetic fractures. The position involves all aspects of patient care, including the evaluation, management, and treatment of orthopaedic surgical patients.  Candidates with experience and interest in robotic assisted surgery, navigation, and direct anterior approach hip surgery will be given preference.

The successful applicant will be expected to participate in running the trauma room, a consult and fracture clinic. On-call duties include approximately 1 weekend in 5, plus 2-3 weekdays per month. Patients currently benefit from an additional Sunday fracture clinic, managed by the orthopaedic surgeon on-call.

Humber River Hospital is expanding its Out-Patient Total Joint program. The successful candidate will have experience and interest in helping streamline clinical pathways and work with a multi-disciplinary team to standardize expedited care.

Our department has also recently implemented robotic knee surgery. The successful candidate will have experience with robotics or be keen to learn, implement and develop a program using such technology.

Humber River Hospital has a commitment to further its role as a community academic hospital and has opportunities for clinical research and education initiatives including teaching and supervision of medical learners.

Qualifications:  The successful candidate must have an MD; have completed an accredited orthopaedic surgery training program; have advanced fellowship training in hip and knee arthroplasty; and be able to competently deal with general orthopaedic trauma. He or she must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario.

Humber River Hospital has an expectation that all physicians will apply for an academic appointment at one of our University affiliates. Your support for medical learners is key to our strategic plan as an academic centre and our participation as a member of the Toronto Academic Health Science Network.
