Applications are invited for the position of Head, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, in the Faculty of Health Sciences, Queen’s University, and its affiliated teaching hospitals. The ideal candidate will be an innovative and visionary thinker who has experience in interdisciplinary environments, demonstrated excellence in teaching and a well-established and independent research program that has made internationally recognized contributions to scholarship. The preferred candidate will also bring a track record of success in academic leadership, with the ability to manage teams that will foster excellence in teaching, patient care and research within the Department.

Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent) and be eligible for licensure in Ontario, and must have an FRCPC or equivalent. The successful applicant will hold a Geographically Full-Time academic appointment at Queen’s University. Preference will be given to applicants with at least 10 years’ experience, proven leadership abilities and research success. However, all applicants with a desire to join a cohesive and growing academic department are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will participate in shared Physiatry consultation service and management for the MSK/Amputee/General Rehabilitation and/or Stroke Rehabilitation. Outpatient clinical opportunities also exist in physical medicine, electrodiagnosis, all neurorehabilitation populations and amputee rehabilitation, depending on the candidate’s clinical interests.

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is located at Providence Care Hospital and provides local and regional clinical rehabilitation services (outpatient and inpatient), undergraduate health sciences training, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons accredited postgraduate training and relevant clinically based research. The Department is responsible for consultation support for 60 rehabilitation beds. The Division of Hospital Medicine, and 2 nurse practitioners provide primary care for all of the inpatient rehabilitation services.
