Academic Endocrinologist:  Clinician Scientist

The Division of Endocrinology within the Department of Medicine at Queen’s University invites applications for an Academic Endocrinologist / Clinician Scientist position. The Division of Endocrinology provides clinical care to a large catchment area with specialty clinics and an active subspecialty training program.  Members of the Department of Medicine enjoy a competitive compensation package, including a generous benefit plan. The successful candidate will assist the Division in enriching research endeavours in keeping with the academic mission of the Department of Medicine. The successful candidate will exhibit a strong potential for innovative scholarly research; be expected to develop their own research portfolio and apply for grants from outside agencies; seek peer-reviewed funding and publish in peer-reviewed journals; and collaborate at the local, national, and international levels. The expected percentage time commitment is 50% for research/scholarly activity, 45% for clinical service, and 5% for teaching or administrative duties.  Research activities may be in basic science, medical education or quality improvement and patient safety. The Division practices a high level of collaboration in clinical functions and there are numerous possibilities for research-based partnerships in the area of obstetrics and gynecology, bariatric surgery, neurosurgery and otolaryngology.

The successful candidate must demonstrate exemplary clinical service and strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate must also demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment. The incumbent will be expected to make contributions through service to the department, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community.

Candidates must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.  Preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification in Endocrinology and Metabolism by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
