ACADEMIC NEUROLOGIST WITH EXPERTISE IN ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAPHY

The Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, in conjunction with the Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, is seeking a full-time Academic neurologist fulfilling the academic position description of Clinician Teacher, Clinician in Innovation and Quality Improvement, or Clinician Investigator. The candidate should be eligible for an appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher at the University of Toronto. Advanced training and evidence of scholarship is a requirement for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.  Expected start date is March 1, 2021 or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.

We are seeking a physician who has advanced training in electroencephalography who can provide expertise for significant existing care needs in ICU monitoring and inpatient/outpatient ambulatory EEG.

The successful candidate will devote approximately 30-50% of their time to neurophysiology monitoring/EEG reading, 10-20% to clinical first seizure management, 30-40% to research/quality improvement including development of ICU monitoring strategies and collaboration with big data initiatives, and 10-20% teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with a successful academic team program in neurology as well as experts in perinatal health, trauma, and stroke which would create opportunities for quality improvement and creative professional activities. Duties will also include shared neurology call, inpatient consultation services, as well as management of a small practice of existing outpatient clinical work related to first onset seizures. The primary language of work will be in English.  

The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; have or be eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Neurology; and have or be eligible for licensure to practice from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Estimated remuneration will be between the range of $200,000 - 400,000 per year (fee for service), commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered. The candidate will be able to participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
