The Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Dalhousie University and the IWK Health Centre invites applications for the position of full-time (1.0 FTE) neonatologist at the Assistant/Associate level.  This individual would join an academic group of seven.

The Neonatologist will provide clinical care in the 40 bed combined Level III/II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the IWK Health Centre.  The IWK is the sole Perinatal and tertiary care pediatric hospital for the Maritime Provinces.  As well as neonatal intensive care experience, areas of expertise that would complement the group include medical education, research and neonatal follow-up.

This position offers an opportunity to pursue an academic career within a stable funding environment.  The Perinatal Follow-Up Program is closely affiliated with the Division and provides comprehensive detailed longer term follow-up of selected infants. A multidisciplinary research environment which includes the Nova Scotia Atlee Perinatal Database and the Perinatal Epidemiology Research Unit provides a rich source of population-based data for clinical audits and research projects.  The Reproductive Care Program of Nova Scotia, one of the best regional perinatal programs in North America, is closely associated with the Division and allows for participation in improving perinatal care throughout the Province.  Opportunities for educational contributions provide a stimulating clinical and academic environment. The successful candidate will be expected to have evidence of productivity and a strong potential for academic contributions in clinical research.

Academic qualifications include an MD degree (or equivalent) from an accredited university with completed recognized specialty training and certification in Pediatrics and in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine (or equivalent). Eligibility for medical licensure in the Province of Nova Scotia is essential.  Compensation and academic appointment is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
