Academic Nephrologist: Clinician Scholar
The Division of Nephrology within the Department of Medicine at Queen’s University invites applications for the position of Academic Nephrologist, with a special interest and training in the areas of hemodialysis and home dialysis.
The Division of Nephrology provides clinical care to a large catchment area with general and specialty clinics, and has an active subspecialty training program, as well as externally funded research programs. The Division of Nephrology operates within a group practice plan, sharing responsibilities based on individual role descriptions and Divisional deliverables. Members of the Department of Medicine enjoy a competitive compensation package, including a generous benefit plan. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
The successful candidate will have major clinical responsibilities as part of a clinician-scholar role description and will be expected to demonstrate exemplary clinical service and leadership. Clinical focus of the position will be primarily in the areas of hemodialysis and home dialysis, but the incumbent will also be expected to provide support to other divisional deliverables, including general nephrology and transplantation clinics, ward and consultation services, and periodic attendance on the general internal medicine clinical teaching unit. Formal advanced training in dialysis and home dialysis is an asset.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong potential for teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as exhibit a strong potential for innovative scholarly research contributions. The successful candidate must also demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment. The incumbent will be expected to make contributions through service to the Department, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community.
Candidates must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification in Nephrology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Preference will also be given to those with post-fellowship training in the areas of hemodialysis and home dialysis.
