Academic NeuroPsychiatrist

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking an academic neuropsychiatrist to contribute to and develop new lines of research related to closed-loop technologies to understand and treat brain-based disorders.  In addition, the applicant will provide clinical care to adult patients with a psychiatric disorder and a comorbid neurological condition.  Duties include clinical evaluation and treatment of inpatients and outpatients, teaching and supervision of medical students and neurology residents, and participation in research and other academic activities. Extensive prior experience with transcranial magnetic stimulation, electroencephalography, and closed-loop technologies is required.

CAMH is Canada’s premier addiction and mental health facility and a world leader in the diagnosis and care of patients with addiction and mental disorders, offering a wide spectrum of care, from treatment for the first episode to care for the severely and persistently mentally ill.  It is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, the largest and most prestigious research-intensive university in Canada. CAMH, together with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, has a strong tradition in the integration of clinical, teaching, and research activities.

Applicants must possess an MD degree, be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with a specialty certificate in neurology, and for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Applicants must also possess a proven track record of grants and publications in the field of transcranial magnetic stimulation, electroencephalography, and closed-loop applications.  The Candidates should also be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry or Division of Neurology at the University of Toronto. English language proficiency is required.

This is a full-time permanent role and remuneration is in accordance with the compensation of a psychiatrist in the province of Ontario (a guaranteed income ranging from $100,000–$130,000 a year with the opportunity to earn more based on an additional fee for service earnings and may also be eligible for funds from the Alternate Funding Plan along with funds from other sources; 6 weeks of vacation; other benefits not included).
