Position Profile:

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has an exciting opportunity for an Infectious Disease Specialist to provide clinical service, including coverage for inpatient and outpatient consultations within our Division of Infectious Diseases in Regina on a full-time or locum basis.

The Division of Infectious Diseases provides a wide range of consultative and clinical services to the Regina General Hospital, the Pasqua Hospital and to a population of approximately 500,000. Clinical services include general Infectious Diseases, HIV, viral hepatitis, antimicrobial stewardship, in-hospital services and outreach clinics.

The Division also has an intensive and productive research program and team involved in HIV and hepatitis B clinical trials, CIHR funded HIV and hepatitis C projects and Indigenous health and informatics. In addition, the division is involved in education and teaching of medical students and residents from the University of Saskatchewan.

The Specialists work closely with our Medical Health Officers who cover community outbreaks and as well with our Infection Control Specialists and Medical Microbiologists – who work in our Laboratory setting. 

Hours of work are typically 0800 to 1700 hours with evenings, weekends and on-call services shared amongst the other Infectious Diseases physicians.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will hold certification or be eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Royal College) in Infectious Diseases and be eligible for provisional or regular licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS).  Preference will be given to candidates with Royal College designation in Infectious Diseases.

This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.

In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.

The successful applicant is expected to participate in the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs of the Department of Medicine in the Regina Area.
