The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences, University of Manitoba and Shared Health, Women’s Health Program is seeking Geographical Full Time (GFT) Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Specialist. The successful candidate will have completed fellowship training in MFM with expertise in management of high-risk pregnancy, fetal ultrasound and pregnancy in the context of complex medical conditions.  Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Job Description

Clinical responsibilities include acting as an MFM consultant primarily based at HSC Women’s Hospital with some ambulatory care clinics and on-call responsibilities at St. Boniface Hospital. Participation in the MFM on-call schedule is required.  Participation in the obstetrical call schedule will also be available.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in teaching. Academic responsibilities include mentorship of fellows and residents in addition to teaching undergraduate students. A strong commitment to medical education is required and may include classroom teaching, postgraduate seminars, grand rounds, departmental rounds, continuing medical education and clinical/bedside teaching. 

Evidence of research ability is essential. This position carries an expectation of protected time devoted to scholarship, clinical research, and knowledge translation. Preference will be given to the candidate with on-going involvement in scholarly research and a record of peer-reviewed publication.

Effective administrative skills are required. Leadership and innovation will be important components of this role. We are committed to substantially increasing access to quality care for the patients we serve, particularly those from underserviced populations.

Qualifications

  • Current or eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba specialist registry as an Obstetrician Gynaecologist
  • Fellowship: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • Graduation from an approved Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship program
  • Eligibility for hospital privileges within Shared Health and Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA)
  • Eligibility for a University of Manitoba teaching appointment
