Full-time Benign-Complex Hematologist

The Departments of Medicine at St. Joseph's Hospital and Unity Health are seeking a qualified full-time benign-complex hematologist. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a clinical academic appointment at the University of Toronto. The position will be based at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, a fully accredited community teaching hospital within the Unity Health Toronto network, serving Toronto’s west-end.  The expected start date of the position is July 1, 2020, or shortly thereafter.

This position will support the current in- and out-patient demands in benign-complex hematology in an academic community hospital.  The candidate will have expertise in complex benign hematology, which may include thrombosis, hemostasis and/or transfusion medicine, as well as interest in clinical research, quality improvement or education within at least one of these areas.

The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Hematology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Preferably, the successful candidate will also have or be working towards a graduate degree relevant to their area of specialization. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to participate in the educational programs in at St. Joseph’s Hospital and collaborate in clinical research and quality improvement programs with Hematology Division at St. Michael’s Hospital. The successful candidate should also be an effective teacher with demonstrated achievement in teaching and education.

The successful candidate will report to the Head, Division of Hematology/Oncology at St. Joseph’s Hospital. The Division currently consists of 5 full-time hematologists (2) and oncologists (3).
