Description:
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine, along with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Sinai Health, are seeking a full-time physician with subspecialty training in maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) and a focus in advanced fetal diagnostic imaging. The successful candidate will hold an academic position description of clinician investigator, and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date is July 1st, 2021, or another mutually agreeable date.
Sinai Health is a leader in obstetrics and gynaecology, and neonatology, with one of the largest programs and services in Canada. It is a fully-affiliated teaching hospital with the University of Toronto and is associated with the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, an institute of international recognition in which research in women’s and infants’ health forms a major component.
The Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Sinai Health provides program-based care in: fetal diagnosis and therapy, prenatal diagnosis, placental disorders, complex obstetric surgery, prevention of prematurity, and the full range of medical disorders of pregnancy. The Division services a metropolitan population in excess of 6.5 million people. The Division actively collaborates with The Hospital for Sick Children via the newly established Ontario Fetal Centre. The Division has formal affiliations providing MFM services at Trillium Health Partners and Scarborough Health Network.
The Division seeks to appoint an individual with proven research skills. Desirable qualities in the successful candidate would therefore include appropriate graduate degree training and/or a focused publication track record in diagnostic fetal imaging and fetal medicine. The successful candidate will dedicate 40% of their time to their research endeavours. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in general MFM activities, prenatal diagnosis, and inpatient management of high-risk transfers, participating in the in-house on-call staff MFM rota.
Enthusiastic participation in all levels of our teaching and education mandate is expected. The successful candidate will promote and demonstrate excellence in professional practices and conduct.
Candidates must either be licensed, or be eligible for an independent or restricted academic licence, under the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
Qualified applicants must either be board-certified (or eligible for certification) in the sub-specialty of MFM by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), or have achieved an equivalent level of regulated sub-specialty training in MFM, in addition to the MD degree.
Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position will be placed in the Hospital Department Practice Plan, with a minimum gross annual compensation of $200,000.00 (estimated based on fee-for-service billings).
