Academic HIV Infectious Diseases Physician

The University Health Network (UHN) Division of Infectious Diseases in conjunction with the Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, is seeking an Academic Infectious Diseases Physician with interest in HIV clinical care and research. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with the academic position description of Clinician-Investigator, with an interest and demonstrated excellence in carrying out independent research, teaching and patient care activities.  The effective start date is July 1, 2021 or shortly thereafter.

A physician with excellent critical thinking and communications skills is being sought to support the Infectious diseases division while advancing knowledge acquisition and clinical care in HIV and infectious diseases at the University Health Network.  The individual will be expected to build a clinically-related HIV research program. In addition the successful candidate will participate in ambulatory HIV patient care and provide inpatient Infectious Diseases consultation at the University Health Network and Sinai Health System. The physician will report to the Division Head of Infectious Diseases. The selected candidate will work closely with the Director of the Immunodeficiency Clinic and other multidisciplinary clinic members to build the clinical and research capacity of the clinic and address emerging issues related to the clientele. 

The successful candidate must have graduate research degree training (Masters or PhD) or equivalent postdoctoral fellowship training in clinical epidemiology or a related discipline and the ability to conduct independent research which is evidenced by demonstrated excellence and productivity. A proven record of scholarly achievements in the form of research grants, and peer reviewed publications related to HIV would be valuable. The successful candidate must hold an MD degree, be eligible for certification in Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Infectious Diseases and have, or be eligible for licensure in Ontario. 

For the successful candidate, compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be competitive with the usual income range for an academic ID clinician in the province of Ontario, with a compensation no less than $220,000 per year. As an academic ID Physician they will be eligible to participate in the UHN-Sinai Health System Department of Medicine Practice Plan and the Department of Medicine alternate funding plan (AFP).
