Lakeridge Health is seeking a Chief of Psychiatry and Medical Director, Mental Health and Addictions Program to lead the collegial Department and comprehensive Program with a focus on clinical, operational, academic, and strategic leadership.

The Chief, under the general direction of the Chief of Staff, is responsible for the professional practice and quality of care provided by the physicians within the Department of Psychiatry in a manner that is consistent with the Hospital’s Core Values and Leadership and Management Competencies. The Medical Director, accountable to the Vice President of Medical and Academic Affairs, will co-manage our Mental Health and Addictions Program with the Administrative Director.  You will be partnering and leveraging the Quadruple Aim framework for health system redesign to lead and further develop this expansive Program. You will be engaging and leading the medical staff in your department in the development and implementation of the goals, strategic directions, and academic advancement of the Program.

Building on Lakeridge Health’s expertise and leveraging our recent integration with Durham Mental Health Services, you will have a unique opportunity to co-lead and truly build a connected system of mental health and addictions for Durham Region.

A trusted clinician and physician leader, the Chief and Medical Director must be an outstanding collaborator and communicator, promoting the mission and vision of the Department of Psychiatry and of the organization. The successful candidate will be supported to pursue faculty appointments with our Academic Partners and will facilitate the academic advancement of the Department members, including the support of research and education initiatives.

Experience in leadership roles in complex health care organizations is an important prerequisite for this position.  The successful applicant must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and will be an experienced psychiatrist who holds Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) certification in Psychiatry.
