The Health & Wellness Department within Student Experience at Western University is seeking a full-time Physician Team Lead to provide medical leadership to a dedicated, multidisciplinary team of health care professionals. Operating in a high-quality facility, this team serves Western students, faculty and staff in a busy, primary care practice with over 60,000 annual patient visits.

Under the administrative direction of the Director, Wellness and Well-being, the Physician Team Lead will provide leadership for medical practice, professional development and quality improvement. In this role, you are accountable for providing comprehensive medical care and health education to students, staff and faculty, as well as acting as an expert clinician, an effective leader and mentor, and a champion of quality, contemporary practice and program performance. This includes assisting in the coordination of all medical services, development of programs to promote high standards ensuring benchmark care, and participation in administrative and research projects. As part of the Health Services Leadership team, the Physician Team Lead will also act as a Physician expert to the University on issues of student health and public safety, act as Most Responsible Physician whenever present in the clinic, and support effective resource management.

As our ideal candidate, you are an expert on issues of student and public health, with excellent counselling skills. You demonstrate understanding of practices used in a transformational program approach, and you show a clear ability to understand patient needs and expectations. You have a passion for working with the student population, which allows you to deliver compassionate, patient-focused care using exceptional clinical skills and knowledge, to the diverse members of the Western community. To this end, you possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of intersectionality of race, disability, mental illness and gender on health care issues in our diverse student population.

In addition, you possess an M.D. and current licensure in the Province of Ontario, as well as membership in good standing in the Ontario Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons, as well as the governing body of your specialty (if applicable). You have experience in medical practice management and occupational health, and preferably, experience in family practice or emergency medicine, and in managing a complex corporate environment with multidisciplinary teams.
