Trillium Health Partners - Surgery Program

The Division of Vascular Surgery, Trillium Health Partners (THP), members of the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto invite applications for a Vascular Surgeon. THP is one of the largest providers of Vascular Surgery care in Ontario.  As a major provider, THP’s goal is to continue to advance our Vascular Surgery program and are seeking a Vascular Surgeon (0.5 FTE Clinical and 0.5 FTE Research), to provide comprehensive Vascular Surgery care to our community. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate experience and training in contemporary management of vascular disease appropriate for a tertiary academic referral Centre and have planned and unplanned resources at all three sites of THP. The successful candidate‘s clinical skill set must include surgical, endovascular (both aortic and peripheral), and hybrid interventions for arterial and venous disease.

Being partly an academic position, the preferred candidate will possess advanced research training and/or a track record of research success in either clinical or basic science. While applicants with expertise in all areas of research will be considered, the Division is specifically interested in developing a program of research congruent with the clinical setting at THP and those with opportunities for collaboration across the University of Toronto. The ideal candidate will possess strong academic leadership skills, and a history of grant submission and manuscript publication. The role description for the successful applicant will include: providing comprehensive Vascular Surgery care to the community, supporting the delivery of unplanned care, contributing to medical education and clinical research, and assuming leadership roles within the organization.

Currently, THP’s Division of Vascular Surgery consists of 4 Vascular Surgeons and provides specialized care in all domains of Vascular Surgery care to the City of Mississauga and surrounding communities.  In addition, the Division of Vascular Surgery along with the Division of Orthopedic Surgery also supports surgical management of inpatients with lower extremity infections without a macrovascular disease (i.e. diabetic foot patients) as part of an interdisciplinary clinical model. Remuneration will be on a fee-for-service basis through billings submitted by the physician to Ontario Health Insurance Plan. The successful candidate will care for surgical inpatients and outpatients, and participate in the on-call rotation supporting Trillium Health Partners. This successful candidate will also take part in the undergraduate and post-graduate surgery curricula at the University of Toronto and will be appointed to an appropriate academic position within the Department of Surgery, University of Toronto.

Applicants must hold an MD or equivalent with completed fellowship/training in Vascular Surgery and must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Candidates with demonstrated leadership skills or an interest in taking leadership roles will be preferred. The position will be recruited at a level dependent upon the qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is open to all qualified candidates; however, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
