Otolaryngologist-Head & Neck Surgeon

Unity Health Toronto, St Joseph’s Health Centre site in Toronto is inviting applications for an Active Staff, full time positions in the Division of Otolaryngology-Head & Surgery.  St. Joseph’s is a fully accredited community teaching hospital within the Unity Health Toronto network, serving Toronto’s west-end.

St. Joseph’s provides care to a culturally and economically diverse population of about 530,000. Our hospital is a 400-bed facility that employs approximately 2,500 staff, along with 400 credentialed staff physicians. The ideal candidate will have an interest in education, clinical research and/or quality improvement.  A proficiency in all aspects of the specialty and a commitment to provide paediatric otolaryngology are required. An area of sub-specialization of value to the University of Toronto Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Surgery will be an asset, but not required. The successful candidates will be part of a team of five full-time surgeons, will have access to surgical time in the main operating room, this time will initially consist of 2 to 3 days a month on average.  On-call will be one in five, and the candidates will be responsible for coverage of two outpatient clinics each week.

The candidates must possess exemplary clinical skills and professionalism, with evidence of excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.  The candidate will be required to support the Division Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery with teaching commitments and will regularly be involved in teaching of medical students and residents.

The successful candidate must be proficient in English and be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor.   Certification in Plastic Surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as well as licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario is a requirement.  Candidates must have Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent in good standing.

Compensation will be by OHIP billings and on-call stipend.
