Unity Health Toronto, St Joseph’s Health Centre site in Toronto is inviting applications for an Active Staff, full time hepatologist position in the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine.  St. Joseph’s is a fully accredited community teaching hospital within the Unity Health Toronto network, serving Toronto’s west-end.  

St. Joseph’s provides care to a culturally and economically diverse population of about 530,000. Our hospital is a 400-bed facility that employs approximately 2,500 staff, along with 400 credentialed staff physicians. The successful candidate must hold MD and FRCPC qualifications or equivalent, be eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in gastroenterology and have or be eligible for licensure in Ontario. As part of the Gastroenterology Division, the successful candidate will participate in an equal share of weekend call for gastroenterology with our gastroenterology team. During the week coverage will include hepatology call. The individual will be responsible for in and outpatient hepatology services, including seeing new patients as well as follow up on existing patients. The successful candidate will have an equal share of post-weekend urgent inpatient endoscopy time. This position is hospital based with the expectation of 1 half day endoscopy slots per week. The successful candidate will also participate in general medical second call, on average 11 times per year. The successful applicant should have the vision and organizational skills necessary to grow the Liver Clinic Program at Unity Health Toronto.

The successful candidate must be proficient in English and be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor.   Candidates must have Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent in good standing.

Compensation will be by OHIP billings and on-call stipend.
