Academic General Cardiologist: Clinician Scholar

The Division of Cardiology within the Department of Medicine at Queen’s University invites applications for an Academic Cardiologist / Clinician Scholar position. The Division of Cardiology provides specialist clinical care to a large catchment area. Members of the Department of Medicine enjoy a competitive compensation package, including a generous benefit plan. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

The successful candidate will be expected to attend General Cardiology outpatient clinics, and to participate as needed in Heart Function and Cardiac Rehab Clinics.  The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise and interpret diagnostic testing, and to attend on the Cardiology inpatient teams (Cardiac Sciences Unit, Ward, Consults).  Evening and weekend on call responsibilities are shared in conjunction with other members of the Division of Cardiology.

In addition to providing evidence of providing exemplary clinical service, the successful candidate must demonstrate strong potential for teaching and supervising students and residents at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and exhibit strong potential for innovative and scholarly research in collaborative setting. The successful candidate must also demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment. The incumbent will be expected to make contributions through service to the department, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community.

Candidates must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification in Cardiology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
