Academic Electrophysiologist: Clinician Scholar

The Division of Cardiology within the Department of Medicine at Queen’s University invites applications for the position of an Academic Cardiologist specializing in Electrophysiology. The Division of Cardiology provides specialist clinical care to a large catchment area. Members of the Department of Medicine enjoy a competitive compensation package, including a generous benefit plan. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide coverage with the Electrophysiology group, including evening and weekend call. Specific procedural skills include implantation of cardiac devices, and ability to independently perform complex ablation. In addition, demonstrated competence in the inherited heart rhythm disease environment would be an advantage.  The successful candidate will have completed an electrophysiology fellowship that includes at least 2 years.  Additional fellowship training and/or comparable experience is preferred. 

The successful candidate will also be assigned to inpatient and outpatient cardiac rhythm consultation, device clinic management and some participation to attend on the inpatient Cardiology services (Cardiac Sciences Unit, Consults, Cardiology Ward) including evening and weekend call. 

In addition to demonstrating evidence of providing exemplary clinical service, the successful candidate must demonstrate strong potential for teaching and supervising students and residents at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and exhibit strong potential for innovative and scholarly research in collaborative setting. The successful candidate must also demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment. The incumbent will be expected to make contributions through service to the department, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community.

Candidates must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification in Cardiology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, with Fellowship training in Cardiac Electrophysiology as described above.
