Emergency Physicians Required

The busy Emergency Department at Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland requires talented and experienced Emergency Physicians to join our team full time. Part-time opportunities are also available.

Emergency visits range between 45,000-47,000 cases annually. Wait times are some of the lowest in the province.

Our Emergency Department underwent a major renovation and transformation over the past five years, with new trauma, acute care, sub-acute units, enclosed ambulance bay and dedicated mental health rooms. It is a state-of-the-art ER.

This is an opportunity to join a team of high performers, as our Emergency Department team is recognized for professionalism, comradery and collegiality and below average wait times.

Additional Requirements: ACLS, ATLS & PALS.

Community Description:

Georgian Bay General Hospital, located in the southern Georgian Bay community of Midland (90 minutes north of Toronto), serves a catchment area of over 55,000 annual residents and summer population of 200,000.

We are considered the gateway to the world-famous 30,000 islands of Georgian Bay. This four-season community embraces a Georgian Bay lifestyle of summer activities such as boating, sailing, hiking, and golf with winter sports such as cross-country and downhill skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, hockey and curling.

Currently, we have four General Internists, four General Surgeons, an Ophthalmologist, four-member GP Anesthesia Group. Our 24/7 digital imaging suite includes X-Ray, Ultrasound, and (new) CT Scanner. We also have an eight-bed ICU, Ambulatory Care, Laboratory, Dialysis, Geriatric and Rehabilitation services. As well, Telehealth video conferencing services are available for consultation and education.

We are an extremely active rural academic training site. Our community and hospital are affiliated with the University of Toronto, as home to the U of T Rural Family Medicine program. We are also a partner with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, as host of the Comprehensive Community Clerkship program. We also have additional clerks, medical students and resident electives through the Rural Ontario Medical Program.
